Every day is a chance to grow, to learn, and to be better than yesterday.

One-To-One Coaching

Coaching is a powerful process that helps you make meaningful and lasting change in any area of your life.  Our sessions together will be a safe space for you to explore your inner world of values, beliefs, thoughts, feelings, fears, hopes and dreams.  You will decide what changes you want to make and we will move forward at whatever pace feels right for you.

As an NLP Master Practitioner, I have a range of powerful coaching tools to help you achieve the changes you seek.  NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming:

Neuro – involving the mind

Linguistic – using language in an intentional way to facilitate change

Programming – working with patterns of behaviour

NLP helps us to understand how our minds work, giving us a way to more easily change the thoughts and feelings that drive our behaviours and, ultimately, our outcomes.  It’s like a toolkit for the mind that helps you understand why you do what you do and empowers you to make transformational change.

Is Coaching Right For Me?

The value of working with a coach is often not well understood, even inside the business world.  And yet all the great leaders you can name will, in all likelihood, have worked with a coach at some point.  Why?  Because even the most successful of people recognise that they can learn and grow.

Coaching is essentially a process of asking thought-provoking questions, the kind of questions that go deeper to uncover underlying thoughts and beliefs that are contributing to the current state.  And that current state is not where you want to be – if it was, you wouldn’t be considering coaching in the first place.

As your coach, I will help you get clear on your desired future state, in other words, what changes you want in your life, whether that’s personally or professionally or a combination of the two (I tend not to make a distinction because the one inevitably spills over into the other and vice versa).  I will then work with you to develop a strategy, identify resources, clear blocks, hold you accountable and support you towards your goal.

It is also my job to help you enhance your map of the world.  In other words, through a process of question-and-answer exploration, I will enable you to broaden your thinking and enrich your perceptions, which is often a crucial key in releasing your blockers and making breakthroughs.  The way you have been seeing, interpreting and reacting to events has got you to where you are now.  Imagine how much further you could go with an expanded and more resourceful way of thinking.

DISC Personality Styles Profiling

Why not enhance your personal growth with a DISC coaching session?  Understanding your personality style is a great first step towards achieving your full potential.  Using DISC, you can gain invaluable insights into your behaviour, communication style and interaction with others.  Whether you’re an individual seeking self-improvement or a leader aiming to enhance team dynamics, the DISC profiling tool is designed to transform your life and work.

Frequent Questions

You may have lots of questions, so I’ve tried to answer a few here. However, if your question isn’t shown, please book a free consultation so we can discuss it, or send me an email and I’ll get back to you.

How does coaching work?

With coaching, we work together in a partnership. I hold a safe, creative, non-judgemental space for you, asking you questions and skilfully guiding you through your thought processes. For your part, it’s a journey of reflection, exploration, decision-making and action. We meet weekly or fortnightly (usually via Zoom or in-person if you are local to Maldon, Essex in the UK) and there will often be some work for you to do in between the sessions.

What qualifications do you have?

I have a Certificate of Performance in Coaching Practice from the School of Coaching, awarded by the University of Strathclyde, and I am a graduate of the Pure Coaching Academy whose course is accredited by the IAPC&M (International Authority for Professional Coaching & Mentoring). Additionally, I am a certified NLP Master Practitioner and a professional member of the ANLP (Association for NLP). I am also trained in a particular NLP technique called Core Transformation (which works at a deep level to enhance wellbeing by changing feelings and behaviours) and I am a certified DISC practitioner.

Where are you based?

Mostly, I work on Zoom so that you can participate from the comfort and convenience of your own home. Please ensure you are in a private space where you can’t be overheard, so that you don’t feel constrained in any way.
If you would prefer an in-person appointment, then I also work out of Silver Street Clinic in Maldon, Essex, UK.

Do I need to sign up to a package?

No – I like to keep things simple, and that includes my pricing! I charge on a per session basis and the fee needs to be paid at least two days before we meet.

Who is your coaching for?

Personal excellence coaching is a positive self-development journey to achieve breakthrough results, which means it’s ideal for anyone looking for transformational change in their personal and/or professional life.  Additionally, for anyone who feels “stuck” and is struggling with a particular issue, then I cover a broad range of topics as listed in the orange box on this page.

Do you run workshops?

If you would like to discuss the possibility of running workshops or in-house training to improve employee or team performance, please do get in touch to discuss.

What is NLP?
NLP stands for neuro-linguistic programming. It provides a way of helping to change someone’s thoughts and behaviours in order to achieve desired outcomes for them. It is rooted in neuroscience and offers powerful insights into how our minds work. There are many tools that NLP practitioners use to facilitate change, from addressing unwanted thoughts, beliefs and behaviours, to removing negative emotions associated with past events, through to clearing up limiting beliefs and decisions we have made about ourselves at an unconscious level. When we can change our thoughts and beliefs, it becomes so much easier to then change our behaviours and our outcomes.
What is DISC?

DISC is a well-known personality styles profiling tool that helps you to better understand yourself and others. Knowing your DISC profile enables you to become a more skilled communicator, helping you to minimise or prevent conflict, appreciate the differences in others and positively influence those around you. It is effective for individuals in and out of the workplace, as well as being particularly useful for teams looking to improve collaboration and productivity.

How long will it take?
I get that you want to know how many sessions it will take to reach a successful coaching outcome! Unfortunately, that’s not easy to predict, as it depends on many factors: what you want to accomplish, what happens as we progress from session to session, any obstacles or setbacks we encounter, what actions you take between our sessions, how you feel about stopping or continuing, financial considerations, and more.
It takes about 60-90 days for a new neural pathway to become established in the brain so, for a change process to be sustainable, it usually requires a level of commitment and consistency.
Communication is key and in every session we will take stock of where you are on your coaching journey.
What if I don’t think it’s working?

My coaching is all about working with your unconscious mind, which means the conscious part of your mind (where you have an awareness of your thoughts) may not recognise that change is happening. It can also be that you’ve lost sight of how things were when you started the coaching – chances are, you’ve made good progress but just don’t realise how far you’ve come.
If you have any doubts at any point in time, let me know so we can take stock of where we are on the coaching journey.

Do you coach younger people?

Personal excellence coaching is more suited to people who have had a bit of “life experience”!  However, if you wish to discuss the possibility of working with a younger person (i.e. a person under the age of 18) on a specific issue, as per the list in the orange box on this page, then please do get in touch to discuss.

I have a medical condition – can I still undertake coaching?

It depends, but in most cases, the answer is likely to be yes. There are some conditions that are not suited to some of the NLP techniques that I use so, in those circumstances, I would adapt my approach.
Before you sign up for coaching, we will have a free consultation where we can discuss any health concerns. There will also be a screening form that you will need to complete.
