Coaching

You’re here because you want to feel differently about yourself, and I’m here to help you do just that.
It’s time to step into your power and embrace your perfectly imperfect self.

One-to-one coaching

Living with body confidence issues (or any type of confidence issue, for that matter) has implications for your wellbeing – from leading you to miss out on things you might enjoy, right through to causing stress, anxiety and even depression. The good news is that it’s relatively easy to fix…much easier than trying to change your appearance…but it does take work. However, I am here to lead, guide and support you through the process. It’s a journey of self-discovery from where you are now to a place of confidence and self-worth, where you accept and appreciate your whole self, fully and completely.

Body dissatisfaction is at an all-time high. It undermines self-confidence, devalues self worth and adversely impacts your relationships with others. You constantly compare yourself to everyone else, resulting in feelings of inadequacy, guilt and shame. It’s time to call a halt on your body image issues and discover the joy and freedom that comes with being completely at ease with yourself.

I’ve created an easy-to-use workbook that takes you through a proven eight-step process to build body confidence so you can have the life you want.

Cost

When you work with me, it’s on a session by session basis and the cost is £85 per session for the first four sessions. After that, it reduces to £75 per session. This discount is applied retrospectively, meaning that session #5 costs just £35. Subsequent sessions are then charged at the £75 rate. Each session lasts about an hour and we would typically meet weekly or fortnightly.

Payment for each session must be made at least 48 hours in advance to secure the booking. For information about cancellations, please refer to my Terms & Conditions. If you’re interested in finding out more about working with me, or even thinking you would like to go ahead, please book a free initial consultation so I can better understand your needs, and you can decide if I’m the right coach for you.

If you would like to work at your own pace, then my Eight Steps to Body Confidence workbook is perfect for you. It explains each step and the associated activity, and it provides you with editable fields to record your answers. Alternatively, you can download and print the activity sheets so that you can handwrite your answers, in case that’s your preference. The steps need to be completed in order, and are designed to replicate the kind of approach that I use in one-to-one coaching, albeit without some of the tools and techniques that I would normally apply.

When you download your copy, this puts you on my mailing list so that you can then receive my monthly newsletter and information about other events, such as workshops and webinars. Even if you don’t want the workbook, it’s worth signing up so that you don’t miss out on other things!

Frequent questions

You may have lots of questions, so I’ve tried to answer a few here. However, if your question isn’t shown, please book a free consultation so we can discuss it, or send me an email and I’ll get back to you.

How does coaching work?

With coaching, we work together in a partnership. I hold a safe, creative, non-judgemental space for you, asking you questions and skilfully guiding you through your thought processes. For your part, it’s a journey of reflection, exploration, decision-making and action. We meet weekly or fortnightly (usually via Zoom) and there will often be some work for you to do in between the sessions.

What qualifications do you have?
I am accredited as a Practitioner Coach with the IAPC&M (International Authority for Professional Coaching & Mentoring), and a certified NLP Master Practitioner with the ANLP (Association for NLP). I also have a diploma (distinction) as a Body Healing Coach, and I’m trained in a particular NLP technique called Core Transformation.
Where are you based?
Mostly, I work on Zoom so that you can participate from the comfort and convenience of your own home. Please ensure you are in a private space where you can’t be overheard, so that you don’t feel constrained in any way.
If you are local to Maldon, then we do have the option of booking a consulting room there.
Do I need to sign up to a package?
No – I like to keep things simple, and that includes my pricing! I charge on a per session basis and the fee needs to be paid at least two days before we meet.
Packages are popular in the coaching world, but they come with an implication of guaranteed results in a set time frame. In my experience, there are too many variables when it comes to body confidence, and each client’s journey is different. I can’t promise to deliver whatever outcome you seek because it’s outside of my control – it’s down to you! Of course, I will guide you and support you, and I will introduce powerful tools and techniques, but you will need to put in the work yourself, both during and between our sessions. Do that and you will definitely get the results you desire.
I have a medical condition – can I still undertake coaching?
It depends, but in most cases, the answer is likely to be yes. There are some conditions that are not suited to some of the NLP techniques that I use so, in those circumstances, I would adapt my approach.
Before you sign up for coaching, we will have a free consultation where we can discuss any health concerns. There will also be a screening form that you will need to complete.

Please note that there are some cases where body confidence coaching is not appropriate:

  • You are looking to lose weight or change your appearance in some way – body confidence coaching with me is not about physical change.  We will be working on your mindset, thought patterns and beliefs.
  • You want a quick solution – whilst NLP can sometimes be used to make instant changes, it’s likely that there will be a series of changes we need to travel through in order for you to reach your desired outcome.
  • You expect me to “fix” you – I would if I could, but it simply isn’t possible…I don’t have a magic wand!  The coaching process requires work, on your part as well as mine.
  • You have an eating disorder – untreated eating disorders really need to be addressed with a trained therapist.  If you are working with a therapist then it may be possible to also work with me as your coach, but it will depend how far along you are with your treatment, and also whether your therapist feels it would be appropriate.
Who is your coaching for?
Anyone whose confidence is affected by how they feel about themselves, including those with issues relating to body confidence, self-esteem and self-worth. Coaching enables you to work through the things that are holding you back. It helps you reach a better place where you know your own self-worth and you are comfortable to be your whole self.
What is NLP?
NLP stands for neuro-linguistic programming. It provides a way of helping to change someone’s thoughts and behaviours in order to achieve desired outcomes for them. It is rooted in neuroscience and offers powerful insights into how our minds work. There are many tools that NLP practitioners use to facilitate change, from addressing unwanted thoughts, beliefs and behaviours, to removing negative emotions associated with past events, through to clearing up limiting beliefs and decisions we have made about ourselves at an unconscious level. When we can change our thoughts and beliefs, it becomes so much easier to then change our behaviours and our outcomes.
How long will it take?
I get that you want to know how many sessions it will take to reach a successful coaching outcome! Unfortunately, that’s not easy to predict, as it depends on many factors: what you want to accomplish, what happens as we progress from session to session, any obstacles or setbacks we encounter, what actions you take between our sessions, how you feel about stopping or continuing, financial considerations, and more.
It takes about 60-90 days for a new neural pathway to become established in the brain so, for a change process to be sustainable, it usually requires a level of commitment and consistency.
Communication is key and in every session we will take stock of where you are on your coaching journey.
What if I don’t think it’s working?

My coaching is all about working with your unconscious mind, which means the conscious part of your mind (where you have an awareness of your thoughts) may not recognise that change is happening. It can also be that you’ve lost sight of how things were when you started the coaching – chances are, you’ve made good progress but just don’t realise how far you’ve come.
If you have any doubts at any point in time, let me know so we can take stock of where we are on the coaching journey.

Do you coach younger people?
I only work with adults (i.e. 18+), but there are therapists and coaches out there who are trained to work with younger people.
